Most people want a price before they book a first chiropractic appointment, especially when they’re already sore and sorting out insurance at the same time. Without insurance, a follow-up chiropractic visit usually costs $60 to $140, while a first visit with a full consultation and exam averages about $150 in Florida. Health insurance, Medicare, and Florida’s Personal Injury Protection (PIP) coverage can pay for much of that, depending on the plan. At Amazing Spine Care, a multidisciplinary chiropractic and spine care practice in Jacksonville, new patients can start with our current $125 New Patient Special, which covers the full exam, therapy, and treatment on the first visit. Our payment options include most health insurance plans, auto accident claims, and flexible plans for patients paying on their own.
How Much Is a Chiropractor Visit in Jacksonville?
Self-pay prices follow the type of visit, starting highest at the first appointment and dropping for routine follow-ups. The figures below come from a 2024 national cost study and show what a patient pays before any insurance or PIP coverage applies.
| Visit or service | Typical self-pay cost |
| First visit (consultation and exam) | About $151 in Florida, with a national range of $121 to $281 |
| Follow-up visit | $60 to $140, with a national average of $76 |
| Manual spinal adjustment | About $76 |
| Spinal decompression session | About $100 |

According to Chiropractic Economics’ 2024 Fees and Reimbursements Survey, chiropractors in the South charged an average fee of $93 per visit, the highest of any U.S. region. For Jacksonville patients, that regional average is a more realistic guide to a self-pay follow-up than the lower national figure.
Why Do Chiropractic Costs Vary Between Visits?
Two visits at the same clinic can cost different amounts because the price follows what happens during each one. These four factors account for most of the difference:
- First visit or follow-up. A first visit takes longer and costs more than a routine follow-up because it includes a health history, a consultation, and a full exam.
- Type of treatment. A standard adjustment usually costs less than a visit that adds therapies such as soft tissue work, cold laser therapy, or spinal decompression, a disc-focused treatment that isn’t used during pregnancy.
- Imaging. Because X-rays add to the bill, most clinics take them only when the exam shows a need for them.
- Length of the care plan. The total cost of care depends on how many visits the plan includes. Visit counts vary with the injury, the patient’s age and health, and how the body responds to early treatment.
Does Insurance Cover Chiropractic Care?
Most health insurance plans cover chiropractic care when it’s medically necessary, such as treatment for back pain, neck pain, or an injury. What you pay depends on your plan’s copay or coinsurance, whether you’ve met your deductible, and how many chiropractic visits the plan allows each year. Plans generally stop paying for visits once an injury has resolved, treating ongoing maintenance care as an out-of-pocket expense.
Medicare’s chiropractic coverage is narrower than most private plans. According to Medicare.gov, Part B covers spinal adjustments a chiropractor performs to correct a subluxation, a misalignment of the spine. After the Part B deductible, you pay 20% of the Medicare-approved amount, while X-rays a chiropractor orders, massage therapy, and acupuncture fall outside the coverage.
We accept most health insurance plans, along with auto accident, workers’ compensation, and personal injury cases. Our Hallandale Beach office is also currently accepting Oscar, UnitedHealthcare, and VA coverage. Before your first treatment, our staff verifies your benefits at no charge and explains your share of the cost, including how a Medicare or Medicare Advantage plan applies.
Will Florida PIP Cover Chiropractic After a Crash?
Florida PIP pays for chiropractic care after a car accident, covering 80% of reasonable medical expenses up to $10,000 under Florida Statutes § 627.736. Licensed chiropractic physicians can provide the initial care PIP requires, without a medical doctor’s visit first.
Reaching the full $10,000 requires a medical doctor, osteopathic physician, dentist, physician assistant, or advanced practice registered nurse to find that you had an emergency medical condition. Without that finding, PIP caps benefits at $2,500. Any deductible on your policy comes out first. The remaining 20% of each covered bill is yours to pay unless you carry MedPay.
Under Florida’s 14-day rule, getting evaluated within 14 days of the crash keeps your PIP medical benefits available.
You won’t have to handle PIP forms alone while you’re recovering. Our team works directly with insurance carriers on PIP claims, documenting each injury in the detail a claim requires. Same-day appointments are available for car accident care, letting you start treatment and protect your benefits in the same week as the crash.
Are There Ways to Lower Chiropractic Costs?
Patients without chiropractic coverage can still lower or spread out the cost. Health savings accounts (HSAs) can pay for chiropractic care because the IRS counts fees paid to a chiropractor for medical care as a medical expense in IRS Publication 502. Most health flexible spending accounts (FSAs) cover the same care. Your FSA plan administrator can confirm what your plan allows.
Amazing Spine Care also accepts CareCredit, a health care credit card for paying over time. For patients with little or no chiropractic coverage, the practice arranges flexible payment programs and can set up customized family plans.
What’s Included in a New Patient Chiropractor Visit?
Our current $125 New Patient Special includes a consultation, a full exam, and a first treatment if you want one. The visit starts with a review of your health history, your symptoms, and what you’d like to get back to doing. The doctor then checks your reflexes, flexibility, joints, nerves, and posture, ordering X-rays only if your condition calls for them.
Before any treatment begins, the doctor walks you through the findings, how often care is recommended, and what that plan will cost. Knowing the full price first, you can decide whether to receive your first treatment, often a spinal adjustment, the same day. The doctor may also suggest care for home, such as when to use ice or heat, which activities to pause, or exercises to try while you heal. You can download patient forms and read what to expect at your first visit before you arrive.
Can You Check Your Chiropractic Cost Before Booking?
A few calls before your first appointment can give you a close estimate of what you’ll pay, starting with your own insurance plan.
- Check your plan’s chiropractic benefits. Look up your copay or coinsurance, your deductible, your covered visits per year, and whether you need a referral. Your insurance card or member portal usually lists them.
- Gather your accident details if PIP applies. Have the crash date, your auto insurer’s name, and your claim number ready. Clinics use all three to bill PIP.
- Ask the clinic to verify your benefits. Many clinics call your insurer for you at no charge before treatment begins.
- Ask what the first visit includes. Confirm whether the price covers the exam, any X-rays, and a first treatment, or whether those are billed separately.
- Ask for the full plan cost before you commit. A clinic should be able to tell you the recommended number of visits, the cost per visit, and how payment works for anything insurance doesn’t cover.

Frequently Asked Questions
Are Chiropractors Worth the Cost?
For many back and neck problems, chiropractic care is a reasonable first step before medication or more invasive treatment. The American College of Physicians’ 2017 guideline on low back pain lists spinal manipulation among the non-drug treatments to try first for acute and subacute pain. How much care helps depends on the injury. Amazing Spine Care refers patients to a specialist when an exam points to something more serious.
Do I Need a Referral to See a Chiropractor in Florida?
Florida patients can see a licensed chiropractor without a referral, including for initial PIP-covered care after a car accident. Some health insurance plans, particularly HMOs, require a referral from a primary care doctor before they’ll pay for chiropractic visits. Amazing Spine Care checks your plan’s referral rules when it verifies your benefits.
Does PIP Cover Chiropractic Care if the Crash Wasn’t My Fault?
Florida’s no-fault system means your own PIP coverage pays for your medical care after a crash regardless of who caused it. Medical costs beyond your PIP limits may be recoverable from the at-fault driver’s insurance. Amazing Spine Care doesn’t give legal advice. Questions about fault, settlements, or claims against the other driver belong with a personal injury attorney.
